El Mojon is a small village at the top of the Costa Calida (the Warm Coast) close to the Mar Menor, on the border of the regions of Murcia and Alicante.

The Costa Cálida, just below the Costa Blanca, adjoins two different seas, the Mar Menor and the Mediterranean, and has warm weather all year round. The Mar Menor is a sea water lagoon formed by the La Manga strip and the Costa Calida coast. The water temperature reaches 30°C in the summer - warmer than the Mediterranean and the area is famous for its therapeutic mud, popular with the Spanish for soothing various joint ailments and skin conditions. The nearby nature reserve at the salt lakes is home to flamingos, herons, eagles, owls, storks, terns, plovers and avocets.

The region of Murcia is varied and offers visitors historic towns, including Murcia City and Cartagena, splendid mountains, national parks and some beautiful coastline. Alicante is a popular holiday destination and the city itself has an impressive castle and other interesting architecture.

The area is very popular with golfers and has a host of excellent golf courses suitable for all standards.

The house is ideally placed for your holiday, whatever your interests. To the south, the nearby town of San Pedro del Pinatar is very Spanish and you will find a daily market in one of the local towns. Northwards, into the Costa Blanca, the holiday resort of Torrevieja and its surrounds offer many activites. (See Facilities and Activities for further details).
